Dracut finally free of Walgreens threat

DRACUT — A proposal to bring a Walgreens pharmacy to a busy part of town was shot down last night by the Planning Board in a 3-2 vote.

Thank goodness the good town of Dracut is fighting to keep their town free of the corporate greed that plagues businesses such as Walgreens.  Pharmacies and their disgusting stocks of laxatives, prophylactics and energy drinks have no place in an old fashioned / all American town.

Fans of the site know that we have been following this story for some time. Because it is hard hitting news? Um, no. Because it involves Dracut.  And lets face it, Dracut is funny.

Dracut has looked the man in the face and shouted, “We don’t want your store, your jobs or your crummy tax revenue.  We want less traffic, because Dracut is already too much of a high traffic destination as it is.”  That last part is kind of true, I tend to drive through Dracut from time to time.  And sometimes, I do see other cars on the road.  They almost always have drivers with confused looks on their faces that seem to say, “How the hell did I get here?!”

So what am I driving in Dracut for?  Oh you know, as a shortcut to a better destination.  Dracut is similar to how I view Tyngsboro, a means to get to somewhere significantly more desirable.  “Dude, we just have to speed the hell through Dracut and then we’ll be there!”

Congrats for fighting the good fight Dracut.  Keep those roads nice and empty.  And think of it this way, that Walgreens spot would be ideal for a Dunkin’ Donuts.  You guys could always use another one of those.
